Class : XII
Part-A:
1. Objective type questions (13 questions) based on the whole syllabus. 13 marks

Part-B (English Reader Book VI): 15 marks
2. a) Comprehension passage 8 marks
b) Essay type question (one out of two) from English Reader in about 100 word
c) Translation from Vernacular into English. (2 isolated sentences). 2 marks

Note:-
A special question in lieu of translation for foreign students (To paraphrase a stanza in simple English.)

Part-C (Supplementary Reader): 17 marks
3. Short answer type questions (3 out of 5 questions) 3×2= 6 marks
4. Essay type question (one out of two questions) from Supplementary Reader in about 100 words. 4 marks
5. a) Reference to the Context and explanation. (1 out of the 2 stanzas) 4 marks

b) Central idea of a poem (1 out of 2) 3 marks

Marking Scheme For Comprehension

Part B- English Reader Book VI :(15 Marks)
2. (a) Read the passage given below and answer the questions that follow:
“They certainly do,” said Mr. Hudson. “The sight of their appetite makes me think of my own supper. T want to get away before their prayer-time, which they will have after they have drunk their coffee. Ten minutes later they will all be asleep, the divers in the best quarters, for they, being the hardest workers, have the best treatment, and the rope pullers lying down among the ropes and oyster shells. Then tomorrow all will be up with the dawn and ready for work.”

Structure of Question Paper

** In all, eighteen questions will be set from the prescribed syllabus.
** The question paper will comprise of three parts (Part-I, Part-II and Part-III).
** The questions will be evenly distributed from the prescribed syllabus.

** Part-I will consist of Five objective type questions carrying 1 mark each.
** All questions will be compulsory to attempt.
** The answer of each question should not exceed more than one sentence.
** Part-II will consist of eight short answer type questions carrying 3 marks each.

** Candidate will attempt any five questions out of these. A question may have two or more parts. The answer of each question should not be more than one page of the answer sheet. **
** Part-III will consist of five questions carrying 5 marks each. Candidate will attempt any three question out of these. The answer of each question should not be more than Two pages of the answer sheet.
