Q.1 Give classification on offshore structures And Explain all in Detail. [25]
Q.2 What is station keeping? What are different methods of station keeping? Explain in detail with suitable sketches. [25]

Q. 3 Explain installation procedure for offshore platforms with suitable sketches. [20]
Q. 4 Write in detail about motion compensator. [10]
Q. 5 Explain marine risers used in production operation. [10]
Q. 6 Explain offshore strong, handling and transportation of oil and gas.

Instructions to the candidates:-
1) Question Nos. 1 and 8 are compulsory. Out of the remaining attempt 2 questions from section I and 2 questions from section II.
2) Answers to the two sections should be written in separate books.
3) Neat diagrams must be drawn wherever necessary.
4) Figures to the right indicate full marks.
5) Use of logarithmic tables, slide rule, Mollier charts, electronic pocket calculator and steam tables is allowed.
6) Assume suitable data, if necessary.

SECTION – I :
Q1) a) Compair floating drilling vessels and fixed offshore rigs in brief. [8]
b) Discuss drilling procedure for structural & conductor casing with suitable sketch. [10]
Q2) a) Discuss station keeping dynamic positioning system in detail. [8]
b) What are design considerations of offshore platform? [8]
Q3) a) Discuss well planning considerations in deepwater drilling wells. [8]
b) Discuss deep water drilling difficulties and well design issues in brief.[8]

Q5) a) Discuss floater well control issues and well shut in procedures in brief.[8]
b) Draw subsea well head system. [8]
Q6) a) Discuss design considerations of stage separation in brief. [8]
b) Discuss typical completion string components and their functions in detail.[8]
Q7) a) Discuss design considerations for offshore pipe line in brief. [8]
b) Describe with suitable sketch casing cementing operation in deepwater wells. [8]

a) Subsea BOP stack.
b) Pressure maintenance.
c) Subsea tree.

SECTION – III
Q5) a) Discuss casing seat depth selection procedure in detail. [8]
b) Calculate cement slurry weight and water needed to mix a slurry consisting of class H, 35% sand, 0.5% retarder, 46% water. [6]
Data given :
Class H cement = 94 lb/sack.
absolute volume of class H cement = 3.60 gal/sack.
absolute volume of sand = 0.0456
Water weight = 8.33 ppg
Basis : 1 sack of class H cement.

c) Discuss different API grades of casing.

Q6) a) Draw BOP stack and discuss different types of ram preventers in detail.[8]
b) Write different causes of well kick. [4]
c) Compair driller’s method and weight & wait method of well control.[4]

Q7) a) Discuss different offshore drilling rigs with suitable sketch. [10]
b) Discuss step by step procedure of offshore drilling. [6]

Q8) Write short notes on [16]
a) BOP stack function test.
b) Utility of SIDPP and SICP pressures.

Q. 9 A) The project under consideration requires an investment of $ 120,000 which will result in the cash flow generation for next five year as $ 40,000, $ 50,000, $ 30,000. $ 30,000 and $ 20,000 respectively. Calculate the NPV at 10% and also the DCFROR for the project. [15]
B) Write a note on Production and Demand of hydrocarbons in India

Q. 10 A) An asset was purchased for $ 96,000 with an estimated service life of 10 year and has a salvage value of $ 12,000. Calculate its depreciation using straight line (SLD) and double declining (DDB) method. Prepare a plot of value against number of years and compare the result obtained by different results. [15]
