1. a) Distinguish between “Construction of Infrastructure” and “Construction Infrastructure”. 6
b) Enumerate the elements of “Construction infrastructure”. 6
c) Write a note on ‘access’. 8
2. a) Draw a diagram showing the arrangement for water supply at a construction site.
b) Explain, with the help of simple sketches, the different kinds of pumps used for water supply at a construction site. 20


3. Draw the typical cash flow diagram of a contractor whose contract has no provision of any mobilization advance and a Defects Liability period 6 months or one rainy season, whichever is later. The total contract value is Rs. 20 crores and the contract time is 24 months, beginning 1st February 2008. The mobilization time for the work is 2 months. 20

4. a) What are the objectives of the Employer, the contractor and the Consulting Engineer in a construction contract ? 10
b) How does the Employer monitor the progress of the work in a contract involving heavy concreting ? 10

5. a) Draw a flow chart for passage of construction material from the source to incorporation in the works. The contract provides for supply of material by the employer. 10

Construction Management-II :
Construction Infrastructure: Power, water, Access, Housing security, storage, plant, Maintenance, communication, Welfare. Enabling Works; personally; progress constroly; safety and Quality control. Planning and Scheduling Gantt chart, Milestone chart, PERT and CPM. Squared networks.

Monitoring and updating. control on material consumption. Use of computer packages. Material procurement storage and accountancy. Labour management. Basic concepts in law, related to construction Laws; contract Labour (R&A), Act and rules, payment of wages Act, Minimum Wages Act, workman’s compensation Act, Interstate Labour Act, Trade Union Act, Industrial Disputes Act.

Project-I On Construction Management :
Construction Management: Business-Basics of Computer application. Systems and Package programmes oriented programming, computerisation of PERT/CPM schedules; Resources Levelling monitoring and updating; inventor / control; material; overview of available packages. Use of package. Writing simple programmes.
