[ Maximum Marks :100 ]
Attempt five questions in all. First question of Section-A is compulsory. Select three question from Section-A and two question from Section-B All questions carry equal marks.

SECTION-A
1. (a) Mention the names of Philosophers who hold the following view
(i) Knowledge is virtue and virtue is knowledge.
(ii) Knowledge is conceptual.
(iii) Sensation and reflection are the two sources of all experience.
(iv) Doubt is starting point of my knowledge and not ultimate goal.
(v) Primary and secondary qualities.
(vi) I think, therefore, I exist.
(vii) There are no innate ideas.
(viii) Monads are windowless.
(ix) Substance is that which exists in itself, and is conceived by itself.

2(b) Whose names are associated with the following system/ doctrines :
(i) Ideas are ultimate real.
(ii) Soul is immortal.
(iii) Parallelism.
(iv) Experience is only source of all knowledge.
(v) There are four kinds of causes.
(vi) God is unmoved mover.
(vii) Saliprism.
(viii) Subjective idealism.

(c) Write the name of the authors of the following books :

(iv) The principles of the Philosophy of Descartes.

2. Explain and examine Plato’s doctrine of Ideas.
3. What are the Philosophical problems Socrates- Describe the methods by which he solves them.

4. Discuss the concept of God according to Aristotle’s view.
5. Describe the Philosophical methods of Descartes.

SECTION-B
6. Explain the concept of God according to Leibnitz. What proof does he give for the existence of God-

7. What is the nature of knowledge according to Lockes- Describe the sources of knowledge.
8. How does Berkelethe existence of external world- Give arguments.

9. Explain the nature and forms of substance according to Spinoza.
10. Discuss how Hume criticises theory of Causation Explain his views on the relation of cause and effect.

1) Survey of Sources of Medieval Indian History.
2) Ghazanavids and Ghorids and their Impact.

Unit II :
1) Foundation and Consolidation of the Sultanate, Causes of the Success of the Turks, Iltutmish, Razia, Balban, The Mongols and the Sultanate.
2) Expansion :
i. Khaljis – Conquests, Administrative and Economic reforms.
ii. Tughlaqs – Mohammad – bin – Tughlaq and Feroz Shah Tughlaq.
3) Causes of Disintegration of Sultanate.

Unit III :
1) Advent of the Mughals.
2) The second Afghan Empire, Administration of Sher Shah Suri.
3) Economy : Trade & Commerce.
4) Religion and culture : Bhakti and Sufi movements.

Unit IV :
1) Consolidation and territorial Expansion of Mughals.
2) Mughal Empire – 1707-relation with Rajputs, Sikhs, Deccan Kingdom, Marathas, Persia and central Asia.
3) Mughal Administration and institution, Administrative structure, land revenue system, Mansabdari system.

4) Society & Economy
(i) Agriculture, Trade and Commerce
(ii) Social classes – Ulema, Nobility, Zamindars, Peasantry, Artisans, Agricultural labour.
(iii) Status of Women.
5) Religion and Culture : Religious policies of Akbar and Aurangzeb, Composite culture.

(i) Decline and disintegration of the Mughal Empire.
(ii) Bahmani, Vijayanagar, Marathas.
(iii) Administration, Society and Economy.
(iv) Art and Architecture of Mughals.
