CREDIT – I :
1. What happens to the hours of work when non-labour income changes? In this context also highlight the role of the income effect. (15)
2. Describe the trends in wages and employment implied by the Cobweb model for the engineering market. (15)

CREDIT – II :
3. What is labour productivity? Discuss the relationship between labour productivity and employment. (5+10)
4. Define the term structural unemployment and distinguish it from frictional and demand-deficient unemployment. Why might structural unemployment fall when demand-deficient unemployment declines? (10+5)

CREDIT – III :
5. What are fringe benefits? Discuss the theory of Optimal Fringe Benefits and explain why they have grown over time. (3+12)
6. Discuss the various types of labour mobility. What are the main factors that determine the migration of labour? (5+10)

CREDIT – IV :
7. Define the union wage gain and the union wage gap. What possible effects could be generated due to an increase in union wage? (4+11)

1. What happen to the hours of work when the wage rate increases? Decompose the change in hours of work into income and substitution effects. (9+6)

3. Discuss the implication of a decline in aggregate demand for goods and services on the aggregate demand for labour. What policy measures can be adopted to tackle such problems? (8+7)

5. Discuss how the wage-schooling locus is determined in the labour market, and why is it upward sloping and concave. (9+6)

1. How would you distinguish between human and physical capital? Elaborate on the role of education as a contributory factor towards economic growth. (6+9)

3. Give a critical evaluation of the Manpower Requirements Approach as an important determinant for meeting the required educational output. (15)
4. Discuss the rationale for public subsidization of school education. Do you think educational subsidy has helped in democratizing education in terms of socio-economic equity? (10+5)

5. Explain the major indicators of public health. In what way these indicators are helpful in framing an effective public health policy for a country. (9+6)
6. Discuss the theoretical concepts helpful in understanding the market for health insurance. Explain how the issues related to moral hazards and adverse selections are tackled by the insurance companies. (9+6)

7. Explain the Quantitative measurements of poverty and malnutrition. Elaborate the relationship between poverty, malnutrition and public health. (8+7)

Credit – I :
1. What are the factors that cause inefficiency in a perfectly Competitive Market? What in your opinion should be the response of the government in removing these inefficiencies? 5+10= 15
2. Discuss the nature of federal-fiscal relations in India and suggest any change or improvement which you think is necessary. 10+5=15

Credit – II :
1. “The budgeting process needs both revenue as well as expenditure forecasting”, Explain the above statement 15
2. Examine the alternative decision rules in evaluating a particular hypothetical project. Which decision rule would you choose and why, when there exists a budget constraint? 10+5=15
